Update: 01.02.2012
Kabinburi 2011.

- A good proportion of lady golfers of whom about 50% are Thai

- British – a good smattering of Welsh, Irish and Scottish golfers as well as the majority English. We even have enough for a Yorkshire football team........bah gum!!

- European's:-

- Scandinavians – unusually the majority are from Finland

- Western Europe has representatives from France, Germany, Holland and Belgium

- Eastern Europe boasts golfers from Estonian

- USA and Canada also have a good presence here

- Non golfing spouses – these are the scratch 19th hole golfers who join the others for prize-giving and a “drink or two” afterwards

Now those very familiar with our beloved game know that it is played by this very strange animal – the human being! Golf brings out the best and the worst from this beast and Jomtien Golf has it's fair share of the various categories of characters, who may well be recognised by regulars:-

- “The boys”. Golf is just a precursor for the main daily agenda of drinking and womanising

- The Male Chauvinists (MCP’s). These guys believe:-

- women should not be allowed on the course

- women should be “shot on sight”

- women are all cheating because their red tee boxes are so far forward of the white tees

- women should receive no prizes.......unless the MCP's win something

- The dedicated golfers, who practice relentlessly for their prizes

- The purists who apply the full St Andrew's rule book to the poor unsuspecting novice. Any one above 12 handicap should not be allowed on the course

- The whingers. Nothing is right - the course, the caddies, the competition format........unless of course they win something, then things are fine!!!

So you can imagine, pulling this lot together needs special, special talents....in comes Glyn, who displays all the characteristics required. He needs to be a politician; a diplomat; a mathematician; accountant; juggler; magician; tour operator; Emcee; author and even a “barefaced liar” when the situation requires it. All of these things, Glyn does admirably, often to the detriment of his own golf game. We all hope a few lessons and heaps of practice will remedy that situation – but of course does Glyn have the time??

In conclusion - Hats Off to Glyn and Long Live Jomtien Golf.
